Weekend diy: terrazzo planter

I'm always on the lookout for a quick and easy diy project. Anything terrazzo-inspired has been on my radar for quite a while, so what better than to throw some paint on a planter!

Here's a rundown of how I made this happen:

I started off with two coats of white melamine furniture paint. You really can use whatever type of paint you have on hand. Once that was dry, I chose three colors to layer over the white base. I started with my go-to, which is blush pink, of course. Then I wanted to add something a bit brighter so I went with an orange-mustard yellow. I added some coral to plain yellow to give it more depth and it turned out exactly as I hoped. Finally, I added a gray/green color to add a pop of contrast to the otherwise light and bright colors.

The one thing to remember is to add a variety of sizes of spots when painting. To get that terrazzo tile effect, make sure to add some straight lines to create some geometric shapes in between all the little polka dots. There is no right way to do this, and always remember that it's only paint! If you don't like it, start again! Now, if I could only figure out how to keep my plants alive...
